About RISE

RISE Art Therapy offers a safe, neuro-affirming and creative space where people of all ages can explore their experiences, strengthen their wellbeing and reconnect with their strengths. We provide services to individuals and families across Naarm/Melbourne’s inner north, CBD and western suburbs, with flexible in-person and online telehealth sessions available.Sometimes it can be difficult to make sense of our experiences through conversation alone. Creative expression can offer another pathway for exploration, understanding and growth. Whether you're navigating mental health issues, stress, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges or simply seeking greater self-understanding, the creative process can support insight, healing and growth. At RISE, we provide person-centred, evidence-based and trauma-informed art therapy and counselling tailored to your individual needs, goals and interests. We welcome people of all ages, abilities and levels of creative experience, no artistic skill is required.Sessions may incorporate painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, storytelling, creative writing, mindfulness, movement and other expressive arts approaches. Together, we will find a way of working that feels safe, meaningful and supportive for you.

Art Therapist and Counsellor

Hi, I'm Rhiannon, a registered Art Therapist and Counsellor and the founder of RISE Art Therapy.I hold a Master of Art Therapy and Counselling from La Trobe University and have over seven years' experience supporting children, young people and adults across education, disability, community and justice settings. I am a professional member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Australia, New Zealand and Asia Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA).My work is grounded in trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and person-centred practice. Throughout my career I have worked with individuals experiencing complex trauma, psychosocial disability, family violence, mental health challenges, ADHD, autism, grief and significant life transitions. I have supported clients in schools, community organisations, correctional settings, First Nations-led services and private practice.Alongside my private practice, I have worked as a School Counsellor and Wellbeing Coordinator, Mental Health Clinician, Art Therapist and Visual Arts Teacher. These diverse experiences have given me a deep understanding of the many ways emotional wellbeing, learning, relationships and life experiences intersect.I believe that creativity can offer a powerful pathway to healing, self-understanding and growth. Art therapy provides opportunities to express experiences that may be difficult to put into words, build emotional regulation skills, strengthen self-confidence and explore new possibilities for change. No artistic experience is required, only a willingness to engage in the creative process. At RISE Art Therapy, I strive to create a safe, compassionate and inclusive space where people of all ages and abilities can explore their experiences, develop resilience and reconnect with their strengths. I work collaboratively with clients to ensure support is tailored to their individual goals, needs and circumstances.I offer individual and group art therapy and counselling services both in person and online.
